Each graduation, an Outstanding Student receives an award for exemplary performance during their education. Last week Kimberly Schwenk of the Medical Assistant program received the award for Great Lakes at our Summer 2016 graduation ceremony. Here is what Vickie Clements, Director of Education, said about her at the event.
When Kimberly started she was worried about coming to Great Lakes after being out of school for so long, and didn't know if she was doing the right thing by making such a big change in her life. While she was here, she had a 96% attendance rate and is graduating tonight with a 4.0! Equally as important, she was a great role model for her class. She never had a bad thing to say about anybody. Her younger classmates called her "mom" and often looked to her for guidance and direction. Just prior to externship Kimberly was hired by the Barber National Institute as a Medical Assistant.
A few weeks ago she told her Program Director that attending school at Great Lakes really changed her life, and while I would like to think that changing lives is what we do at Great Lakes, we think that-- because of her own hard work and determination -- she changed her own.
Congratulations Kimberly! We wish you luck and success in your new career!
