Deep Tissue Massage Course - Continuing Education

Posted On 4/28/2017

Zen Den Registered Massage Therapy

Deep Tissue Massage is a practical hands-on course combining technique demonstrations by the instructor and practical exchanges among the participants.

The application of deep pressure techniques is often complicated by a variety of factors: client pain tolerance, strength of the therapist, the ability of soft tissue to maintain its tone under pressure and the tendency for capillary bed bruising.

There are approaches to overcome these obstacles. The participants will learn how to incorporate active and passive movements into the massage manipulations. Myofascial release techniques will be used as a precursor to Deep Tissue Massage.

Techniques such as myotonic release, passive stretch release and active resisted release will be demonstrated and practiced.

In addition the participants will observe and practice the optimal way of incorporating body weight and proper ergonomics into the application of deep tissue massage. Emphasis will be placed on a new approach to using elbows and forearms. The outcome will be a safer treatment for the client, increased longevity and decreased fatigue for the therapist, and the ability to apply a variety of new techniques into the treatment.
