The thing I love about my career is the people at the facility I work with and being able to help people in need. I perform ultrasounds from head to toe, and everything in between.
I believe my education prepared me to take my National Boards and become a registered ultrasound tech. The clinical training at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo and Buffalo OB/GYN office helped to prepare me to enter the real world. Because of my training, I feel competent working alone and being able to help our doctors diagnose pathology. It is amazing to think that I basically know the anatomy from head to toe. I never thought it was possible, but the combination of the education at Great Lakes Institute of Technology and the faculty teaching it to you make it easy.
My short term future goal would consist on working full time hours every week. My long term goals include getting married and having a family. GLIT has helped set me up to basically take my life anywhere I want to go, and I recently purchased a home and a new car all within a year of graduating. I applied for my job shortly before ending clinical externship and received a job interview on the last day of school.
The educational training that GLIT gives you is everything you need for taking the boards, and being registered before you apply for jobs is ideal in this growing field. The Great Lakes' DMS teachers have experience in the field and they help prepare you right down to your interview. They always make time for 1-on-1 sessions and make sure each student takes this seriously before, during, and even after the education.
In my spare time I am now able to travel and spend time with my family. My hobbies include golfing and softball.
