Where have you worked since you graduated, and where do you work currently, and how long have you been working there?
I was fortunate enough to join the staff at Hamot Surgery Center as an Endoscopy Technician immediately upon graduation. I have been working for approximately a year and a half.
What types of things do you do there day to day?
I prepare the procedure rooms for the cases, assist the doctors during the procedures, and perform therapeutics as necessary.
What do you like about your career?
What I like the most is the fact that although the procedures are similar, they vary with every patient that comes to the facility, I find my job very interesting, I continue to be challenged and learn something new every day. The doctors and my coworkers are amazing, I wouldn't have it any other way.
What are your career goals for the future?
As for the projected future I don't know what's in store for me, but as of right now I'm content where I am.
What advice can you give current students and new graduates that can help them be successful?
When they get the opportunity, pay attention to those willing to share their experience, learn from them and use it to make yourself better at what you do.
What did you like about attending Great Lakes?
I liked the experience I gained through my clinical portion of the program. The teachers were very knowledgeable and always willing to help those if needed.
