Veterinary Assistant Alumni Update - Emily Trisket

Posted On 8/14/2013

Emily Trisket is a 2012 graduate from the Veterinary Assistant program, and Employment Specialist Carl Rozenek recently had a chance to catch up with her success on the job.

Ever since Emily finished her education at Great Lakes Institute of Technology in May of 2012, she admits she is extremely happy with her decision to attend a school that didn't just help get her a "job", but rather a "career" which can last a lifetime.

Emily has been employed with The Pet Animal Hospital in Jamestown, NY since May of 2012 and says, "I absolutely love it because I not only take care of the animals, but the 'parents' of the patients. I love how everyone is so nice and I even established friendships here!" On a daily basis, Emily assists in surgeries, draws blood, administers medications, and takes care of dogs, cats, and exotic animals.

Emily states that her favorite parts of Great Lakes were hands on classes. She says, "the training I received helped prepare me when I came to The Pet Animal Hospital as an extern; I knew what I was getting into. Also, I had awesome job placement help - they sent my resume here and I ended up getting hired right out of externship."

In her spare time, Emily enjoys camping, playing volleyball, and spending time with her Labrador Retriever, Riley. Emily is also in the process of obtaining her Veterinary Technician license online.

Congratulations on your success, Emily!
