The Student Services Committee
has been raising money for SafeNet over the last two months. We recently had a "Penny War" that rose over $400.00, and this month with had our annual "Chili Cook-off." Instructors brought in their infamous chili recipes while student's lined up for a taste. Each student was given the opportunity to taste the different chilies such as "Northwood's Chili", "Mix-n-Match Chili", "Cha-Cha Chili", "Tex Mex Chili" and "Fire in the Hole Chili." The event was fun for all, staff and students were able to mingle and discuss which chili was their favorite. A big congratulations goes out to Medical Assistant Instructor
, Mrs. Kiehlmeier, for outnumbering all of the other chili contestants and being named the new Chili Cook-off Champion! We rose over $90.00 which brings our total for SafeNet up to $500.00! Way to go Team Great Lakes!
During the upcoming month of April students are putting together a team of "walkers" for the March of Dimes annual fundraiser and walk at Presque Isle. We will be walking as a team on April 28th and spending our time up until then raising money for the cause. The school is having a Bake Sale on April 17th to help raise money for this charity. We are hoping that everyone brings their appetite and enjoys cookies, breads, pies, and cupcakes! Stay tuned for more happenings within the Student Services Committee!
