Medical Assistant students at Great Lakes are trained to work in both the front office and clinical back office settings while in school. Students are trained in how to update patient files, handle insurance forms, greet patients, take medical histories, and prepare patients for examinations. What many don’t realize is that Medical Assistants also receive training in laboratory procedures, specimen testing, and instrument sterilizing, as well as infection control and various methods of drawing and processing blood specimens.
