This week's topic focuses on the importance of knowing who your loan servicer is before repayment begins. Knowing who your loan servicer is and their contact information is an important step to successfully entering loan repayment. Most loan servicers will contact you when the loan originates and during your grace period to let you know you are approaching repayment. You can find out who your loan servicer is by going to the National Student Loan Database (NSLDS) and log-in using your social security number, date of birth, first two letters of your last name and your PIN number. The website is www.nslds.ed.gov (this will show you a report of your current loan debt and details on your servicers).
One thing you should ALWAYS do is contact your loan servicer when you need to update an address or telephone number.
You can also make an appointment with me and I can go over this paperwork with you and show you some payment options after graduation.
