Introduction to Stretching- One day class

This course is designed to provide the massage therapist additional stretching techniques, including a self-stretching routine that the therapist can use in preventing common injuries associated with burn-out in the field. The course also includes a lecture on the anatomy and physiology involved in stretching the body as a whole. The course includes a variety of hands on stretching techniques, allowing participants the opportunity to practice full body passive static stretching.

Julie Henry is a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Pennsylvania and is also Board Certified through the NCBTMB. She teaches anatomy and physiology, kinesiology and sports massage. Julie has taken various continuing education courses in aromatherapy, stretching for sciatic pain, stress related disordered and a variety of instructor workshops. Her passion is in the sciences and educating on how massage therapy can affect the anatomy and physiology of the body.

Introduction to Therapeutic Taping - One day class

This course will introduce the massage therapist to the latest techniques in therapeutic taping and the most popular therapeutic tapes out in the field. Work hands-on with various types of therapeutic tape and learn their benefits. Learn how to perform basic taping methods to address common dysfunctions. This class will be interactive; the best way to learn it is to do it!

Keri Nothum is a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Pennsylvania and is nationally certified. Keri has been working as a massage therapist for 14 years. She has taken continuing education in a variety of topics including aromatherapy, pathology, instructional training, pediatric massage, KT1, KT2 and KT3 taping, as well as Kinesiology taping specifically with 3B tape.

Explore the complex world of numbness and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. This 6 hour seminar will introduce the therapist to a variety of massage techniques to help treat Carpal Tunnel. Through studying the muscles involved, the etiology of the disorder and a variety of techniques the therapist will be able to effectively give their client relief from symptoms associated with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Danielle Almendinger- is a Licensed Massage Therapist with over 9 years of experience. She is a graduate of Career Training Academy with a Massage Therapy Occupational Associate in Specialized Technology Degree. Danielle has taken continuing education in Fertility and prenatal massage, medical massage as well as hot stone. In addition to being an instructor at Great Lakes Institute of Technology she is also is an Instructor for Elite Education. She is an active member of ABMP and creator of MOMassage (Conception, Birth and Beyond).

This course includes the history of aromatherapy and the science and principles behind its application. Learn to differentiate between types of essential oils as well as the contraindications and benefits of this modality. The course includes the uses and precautions associated with the most common blends of oils for use in massage therapy application. Participants will be given the opportunity to create blends of their own during the course.

Dierdre (Dee) L. Dascomb has been actively practicing massage therapy for 16 years and is a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Pennsylvania. In addition to her training at Great Lakes she has completed many hours of continuing education. Her focus areas are those that add dimension to the basic Swedish massage, these areas include Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Massage, Reflexology, Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, Pregnancy Massage, Spa Modalities. Other areas of continuing education include Cranial Sacral, Oriental Cupping, and Holistic Healing.
