Massage Therapist Graduate Finds Niche

Posted On 4/30/2012

Born in Los Angeles, California, Colleen Munn dreamed of following in her parents footsteps as an aspiring actress. However, after her parents decided to move to Erie, Pennsylvania, Colleen knew she needed to find her niche in another field.

Before Colleen attended Great Lakes Institute of Technology, she was a waitress. The daily grind made her realize she needed to focus on finding a more rewarding career. She chose the Massage Therapist program at Great Lakes because she wanted to "make a living making people feel good about themselves in a stress-free environment."

After graduating from Great Lakes in 2008,she was hired at Coventina Day Spa in Waterford, and continues to excel with the company. She specializes in Swedish, deep tissue, aromatherapy, hot lava shell massages, spa wraps, and body scrubs. Colleen would someday like to further her education, concentrating in oncology massage.

Due to the success she has had over the years, her decision to enroll in GLIT's Massage Therapist program is one she does not regret. "I really liked the small class sizes, the hands-on atmosphere, and how the program is condensed that you can complete in 9 months and receive a great education."

Colleen obtained gainful employment as a Massage Therapist but didn’t let the move from Los Angeles to Erie disrupt her hobbies. She remains heavily involved in acting and dancing.
