Posted On 9/12/2012

Pat Baran, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Program Director, has been at Great Lakes since 2007. She has an extensive background in medical imagining, starting in 1971, where she attended Upstate Medical Center, receiving an Associate's Degree in Medical Sciences in the Radiologic Technology program. She started working at Upstate in 1973 after receiving her degree. She's also worked at Westfield Memorial Hospital and UPMC Hamot.

In 2007, Pat was offered the program director position at Great Lakes and has been working here ever since. Pat states "I thought it would be a great opportunity to work directly with the students. It is a challenging career but well worth it, seeing the students reaching their goals of becoming an Ultrasound Technician and obtaining a job in the field."

Pat's advice for students is to set goals for themselves and do everything possible to attain them. "The decisions we make in life shape our future, so we need to focus on what's important to us. If you dream it -you can make it a reality. All it takes is belief in yourself and a commitment to succeed."
