Pharmacy Technician, 2006 Graduate
Employer: Ashtabula County Technical and Career Campus (A-Tech)
When you're dedicated to your career, hard work truly pays off and Great Lakes graduate Marybeth Sanford is proof! She has been in the field for almost a decade, and now she's transitioned to a classroom instructor, training new pharmacy technician students.
Shortly after Marybeth graduated from Conneaut High School she went to a traditional college but discovered it wasn't for her, so she decided to look into attending Great Lakes. After a few weeks of Pharmacy Technician classes she knew she just "fit in." One of her favorite parts of attending GLIT were the great instructors. Her favorite instructor was, Dr. Steve Coleman, who currently teaches the medical science classes at the school. She also enjoyed the fact that the location was convenient for her. While in school, she lived in Conneaut, OH so it was a short drive that in the long run prepared her for the workplace.
Marybeth attended an externship at Lake Erie Correctional Institute and was hired immediately after graduation in 2006 at Walgreens as their Head Pharmacy Technician. In 2012, she began instructing at Ashtabula County Technical and Career Campus. Marybeth loves sharing with others the joy and true passion for the field of pharmacy and hopes her students can one day have the same success that she has had. She encourages her students to attend a post-secondary school like Great Lakes, so they can expand upon their knowledge with more hands-on learning.
Marybeth is looking forward to having the summer off by enjoying time with her 18 month old daughter. She also enjoys fitness and stays healthy by running and exercising.
