This Patient Care Technician program is designed to prepare the student to work directly under the supervision of nursing or medical staff to provide basic patient care, including planning and assessment, recording vital signs, and collecting and testing specimens. The student will also learn to assist patients with nutritional needs, assist in mobility and transferring patients, and assist in personal hygiene, comfort, and grooming. Students are also provided the opportunity to assist in medical examinations, perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), perform basic laboratory tests, and perform phlebotomy. The program concludes with an externship to a local hospital or clinic to provide hands-on working experience. The program is designed for the student with little or no prior experience in the field.

I enjoy hiring graduates of the Great lakes Institute Patient Care Technician program. They are very motivated to learn, are well prepared and are ready to work with the rest of our team.
