Angie Confer graduated from the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program in 2010. While at school, Angie was a dedicated student. Pat Baran, DMS Program Director, says "Angie has surpassed all expectations passing multiple registries and is an amazing ultrasound technologist. She is a wonderful person and has such compassion and rapport with her patients." After completing her externship, Angie was hired as a traveling ultrasound technician at American Diagnostic. Great Lakes recently had a chance to catch up with Angie on the job.
Angie travels to multiple nursing homes and prisons to perform general and vascular exams on a variety of individuals. Angie says "my career is very different than what I imagined, since my employer is a mobile ultrasound company." During the last three years, she has met some of the most fantastic people, from a 102-year-old woman who acted like a 20-year-old, to a woman who could only smile. Angie is registered in Abdomen (RDMS) and Vascular (RVS). She would like to thank her husband and instructors, Pat and Mary Beth, for their unconditional support throughout her education. Without them, Angie states, she would not have made it this far.
Angie is happily married and enjoys campfires and relaxing at home with her husband and their golden retriever. Thank you, Angie, for sharing your success story with us!
